Wonton is the easiest dumpling to make at home. The filling is usually with meat (pork and chicken are the most common options) or shrimp. As for the wrappers, you could find them in almost every Asian grocery store. The folding methods are even easier to master comparing to the traditional ways of folding the Chinese dumplings.

In this recipe I am showing you 4 easy ways to fold the wonton. Get ready to have fun folding wonton at home!

INGREDIENTS

Preparation

  • 1. THE TRIANGLE FOLD
  • Place the filling at the center of the wrapper. Then wet the edges.
  • Fold the wrapper diagonally to form a triangle.
  • Wet the lower-left angle and bring the two angles towards each other.

  • 2. THE YUAN BAO FOLD
  • Place the filling at the center of the wrapper. Then wet the edges.
  • Half fold the wrapper to form a rectangle.
  • Wet the lower-left angle and bring the two angles towards each other.

  • 3. THE CANTONESE FOLD
  • Place the filling at the center of the wrapper. Wet the area around the filling.
  • Bring the lower angle upwards and press the middle point to seal.
  • Casually bring the wrapper on the left side towards the center. Do the same with the right side.

  • 4. THE FISH FOLD
  • Place the filling at the lower third area of the wrapper.
  • Bring the lower angle up to wrap the filling inside.
  • Roll the wrapper twice from the bottom upwards.
  • Wet the left wing of the wrapper and bring the two wings towards each other.
